Welcome.
You’re not supposed to be okay, and that’s okay.
Reaching out for help is an act of courage. We are social beings as humans. This requires us to lean on one another during times of need.
To connect is to find comfort. To find comfort is to heal.
We all have a story— a story that reflects where we’ve been, where we are, and where we aspire to go. A counselor provides private, unbiased support to join you in the chapters— a trusting presence for your story to be heard and a place for you to make decisions with clarity.
It’s likely someone gave you my name, and for that I’m so grateful. What this means is that you’ve already taken the brave step to begin exploring what resources are available to you to begin feeling better.

Clients know me as “Sam.” I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional serving the state of Louisiana. What this means is that I am a specialist who counsels families in the reproductive years of life and mentor clinicians who work with them. I have over a decade of experience in this particular field.
I truly believe it is privileged work to bear witness to one’s story without judgment. I understand that it is a human necessity to embrace connection through positive regard. I am known as a compassionate, trauma-informed, dynamic holding therapist who can provide a safe space to nurture and challenge families to find their best and healthiest selves.
I am also the founder of Baton Rouge Perinatal Counseling, an outpatient collective comprised of Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professionals who provide non-pathologizing outpatient group therapy sessions related to perinatal mood and anxiety distress, miscarriage and loss, infertility, grief, relationship changes, and overall parental support. BRPC also serves to advocate and educate the community by providing trainings to improve the quality of care birthing families receive.

In addition, I have particular specialization in working with perinatal couples and am a Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator. I offer couples workshops in preparation for adjustment during postpartum.
Finally, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Chapter of Postpartum Support International.
If you are considering beginning a counseling relationship and question whether or not you “need” it, please reach out. I would be happy to discuss with you openly and honestly the benefits of taking care of your emotional health through psychotherapy. Emotional health and physical health are equally important to your well-being, especially during such a transformational and vulnerable time in your life.
